How It Works
A peek behind the curtain. Spoiler: it's a lot of pinging.
Process
The Scanning Process
Network Discovery
We blast through IP ranges looking for anything that responds on port 25565. It's not subtle, but it works.
Status Query
Found a server? Cool. We send it a polite handshake and ask for its life story: player count, version, description, mods — the works.
Data Indexing
Everything gets parsed, indexed, and made searchable within minutes. From random bytes to 'oh hey, that's a Minecraft server' real quick.
Continuous Monitoring
We never stop checking. Servers get re-scanned regularly because data goes stale and we have commitment issues (with stale data).
Frequency
How Often We Pester Servers
| Server Type | Scan Frequency |
|---|---|
| Active servers | Every 5-10 minutes |
| Popular servers | Every 5-10 minutes |
| Offline servers | 3 times per day |
| Full network scan | Continuous rotation |
Capabilities
What We Can See
Protocol Support
Supports Minecraft Java Edition protocols from 1.7 through the latest versions
Mod Detection
Detects Forge mod installations and mod lists from supported server versions
Geolocation
Maps server locations by country for regional filtering and analysis
Player Tracking
Tracks online players, usernames, and player session history (30 days max)
